The Tank Duel of Cologne (1945)
It s the 6th of March 1945. United States Task Force X is in the midst of clearing out the city of Cologne when a pair of Sherman tanks are ambushed. Hiding underneath a bridge near the Cologne Cathedral is a lone German Panther tank. Outmatched headtohead, both Sherman tanks are swiftly knocked out of action moments apart. Riding parallel the Sherman duo is the newly fielded M26 Pershing tank (Eagle 7). Upon discovering the destroyed Shermans, Eagle 7 quickly out flanks the repositioned Panther. Starring down each other s muzzle, the Panther freezes at the sight of Eagle 7; they assumed the Pershing to be German made. Reacting quickly, Eagle 7 engages the Panther, swiftly disabling the vehicle. Filmed at near point blank, the Tank Duel of Cologne is perhaps the most comprehensive tank battle of WW2, complete with footage of nearly all vehicles involved.
