Scrotal urethrostomy for recurring urolithiasis in a male pug dog
This is a video of scrotal urethrostomy, a surgical procedure for the management of recurrent urolithiasis in dogs. The pug dog had the history of urolithiasis 5 months back and operated for cystotomy but there was recurrence and had great difficulty in urination. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia (induction with propofol 3 mg, kg body weight) and maintenance with 2 isoflurane volatile anaesthetic liquid. Scrotal ablation was done first as it gives a better exposure for the castration and for urethrostomy. There was lightening of anaesthesia during cautery or probably cautery power was bit higher . I also demonstrated that how to apply strangle knot as ligature during castration. Thanks
