We are very proud to present the story behind the book My Dear Bessie: A Love Story in Letters. These love letters, edited by Simon Garfield, were between Second World War lovers Chris Barker, a soldier in Libya, and Bessie Moore, a Morse code interpreter in London. We are honoured to have our good friend, and son of Chris and Bessie, Mr. Peter Barker with us to tell us all about how these amazingly eloquent, heartwarming, funny and extremely intimate letters took the literary world by storm Peter tells us about meeting with the prestigious and supremely talented actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Louise Brealey, who have so beautifully portrayed his parents during the wonderful Letters Live theatrical events and the BBC Radio Four adaptation.
