L amour cest gai, lamour cest triste (1971) Jean Daniel Pollet ( ENG SUB)
Léon, a shy little tailor, shares a twopiece with his sister Marie, who presents herself as a clairvoyant. They receive their clients separately, but one day Léon discovers his sister s true profession. Pollet s first film released in a major circuit, L Amour c est gai, l amour c est triste features the fabulous Claude Melki, with a hesitant gait, both clumsy and poetic. He shares his modest universe with a whimsical sister (Bernadette Lafont) and the priceless JeanPierre Marielle, a razorsharp, cowardly and xenophobic phrasemonger. Chantal Goya and Marcel Dalio complete the cast of this earthy comedy with tasty dialogues by Remo Forlani. A somewhat sad film that makes you laugh a lot, which Alain Resnais described as nonchalant, a little bitter, very moving, with an inimitable Insidiously unforgettable, which Jean Renoir will love.
