Night Witches Aella Translation

I translated this powerful rock ballad Night Witches (Nochnye Vedmy) performed by the Russian allgirl metal band Aella. This song is about the famous Soviet female bomber pilots who fought the Nazis in WW2. Many were in their teens and early 20 s, and they flew in old cropdusters made of little more than plywood and canvas, dropping bombs by hand out of open cockpits in freezing weather. Although they were known as the Night Sparrows in Russian, they were dubbed Night Witches by the Nazis and were so feared and hated that an Iron Cross Hitler s most prestigious award was given to any soldier who managed to bring one of them down.
