As the Covid19 vaccination programme gathers pace, we look back on how vaccines were tested in 1943. Scientists examining eggs by light, before innoculating same. Small cut is made in egg by scientist drill. Egg inoculated with virus, after two days in an incubator the virus multiplies a million times. The vaccine is then removed tested for germs. Two tubes one free from influenza germs the other contains influenza germs, this is noted by the fact that the red blood cells on the left are clumped together, whereas these on the right settle down.
