They reflect the suffering of human relationships, love and death. They appeared in the late eighteenth century and became more widespread at the start of the nineteenth century. According to some authors, together with the soleá, the Seguiriyas is one of the most important historical pillars of the cante jondo, that is particularly strongly influenced by the interpretation of the Andalusian gitanos.
