Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius

TheTrinity Lavra of St. Sergius is alavraand the most important Russianmonastery, being the spiritual centre of theRussian Orthodox Church. The monastery is situated in the town ofSergiyev Posad, about 70 kilometres (43mi) to the northeast fromMoscowby the road leading toYaroslavl, and currently is home to over 300 monks.
