Protests in Bashkortostan: Anti Kremlin Sentiments and Ethnic Awakening
Arrests continue in Bashkortostan. Three weeks ago, thousands of people came out to protest in support of activist Fail Alsynov. After the peaceful actions were dispersed by force, the authorities launched a largescale repressive campaign. Local courts have already considered 152 cases on administrative offences related to the protests in Baimak. The detainees are mostly ethnic Bashkirs from Muslim families.
