Георгий Виноградов Азра (муз. Антона Рубинштейна ст. Генриха Гейне, р. т. (пер. ) Петра Ильича Чайковского ( ))
Georgy Vinogradov (Георгий Павлович Виноградов) sings Azra (Азра) by Anton Rubinstein, possibly for AllUnion Radio or Moscow Radio. The recording date is unknown, but probably between 1949 and 1951. The words are by Heinrich Heine and P. Chaykovsky. (Sorry, the name G. Geyne in the video credits should be Heinrich Heine). LYRICS SUMMARY The sultan s daughter bathes regularly at the fountain with female slaves, and there is splashing of water. A slave stands by, growing sadder and paler. When the princess questions him, he replies that he is Mahomet from Yemen, from the family Asra. He says he dies when he loves.
