5 minutes ago Eruption of Sakurajima volcano Japan is in mourning Lava fills cities
A volcanic eruption occurred on Sakurajima in Kagoshima Prefecture. The local meteorological observatory warned residents within a 2 km radius of pyroclastic flows and falling rocks. Showa Crater, the first since April 2018, was observed to erupt at 10:52 a. m., with plumes rising to a height of 1, 000 meters at 11:10 a. m., according to the Kagoshima meteorological office. The Met Office said it detected a slight bulge on the mountain around January 14th. It is not known whether this movement is related to the eruption, although the likelihood of a larger explosion increases when the swelling suddenly subsides. Showa Crater is located on the east side of Minamidake and was especially active between 2006 and 2018. Sakurajima is connected to the Osumi Peninsula in Kyushu. The volcano is also located off the coast of Kagosima, a city with a population of about 600, 000 people. Due to its explosive potential, it is considered a very dangerous volcano and is under close supervision. I
