As a victim of childhood sexual abuse, Taking My Voice Back, is the vulnerable and deeply personal titlecut from Brooke Robertsons Burtonwood Records debut. It marks the first time the Louisianabased singer, songwriter has shared her story. Harboring her pain for years, penning the song helped Robertson find healing and restoration from a difficult chapter in her was something I promised myself I would never talk about, and for 15 years I was numb to it, she says of the abuse. As I was writing the song, I felt in my heart that I needed to contact my abuser. I was able to tell that person I forgave them, and that God forgives and loves them too.
