Japanese Reggae Pop from the 70s 80s with Kay Suzuki

I attempted to capture the moment when early City Pop artists incorporated newly imported reggae riddim into their album tracks. The history of Japanese reggae is a very interesting and diverse one; this is just a part of the bigger picture. We are releasing a vinyl compilation titled Tokyo Riddim 19761985 on 6th Oct 2023, centered around the same concept. The album launch listening session will take place at Total Refreshment Centre on 8th Oct. This session will include a talk titled The Brief History of Japanese Reggae and an interview with one of the featured artists, Izumi Mimi Kobayashi.
