Siberian Lesson, Syberyjska Lekcja ( Poland, 1998) dir. Wojciech Staroń
After graduating from university, a young couple decide to spend a year in Siberia. Malgosia is offered a job teaching Polish to Polish exiles living there. Wojciech, her boyfriend (the films author) goes with her and documents her experiences. What appears is the vision of Siberia as discovered by a sensitive young woman. After initial difficulties, Malgosia gets used to her new surroundings. She makes new friends: the priest, the doctor, the guard, the painter all of them become important for her. They open their homes to her, and their hearts. Winter comes: there isnt enough food, the teachers go on strike, and Malgosia and Wojciech decide to get married.
