Inside a NeoBabylonian Temple: Bureaucracy, Identity, and Office Politics Yuval Levavi (University of Vienna) Friday, June 24th, 6:00 pm Central European Time (UTC+01:00) The Babylonian temples played a central role within the NeoBabylonian Empire of the mid first millennium BCE. For modern scholars, the massive temple archives of the period serve as one of the best sources for various cultural, historical, and administrative aspects. Focusing on the temple archive of Eanna, the temple of Ištar in the city of Uruk, we will examine the daytoday interactions of temple officials with the outside world, as well as with each other.
