Eta Carinae a new source of very high energy cosmic gamma radiation

With the gammaray telescopes of the High Energy Stereoscopic System astrophysicists have detected very high energy gamma rays from the binary star Eta Carinae in Homunculus Nebula. It constitutes a new type of source for such highenergy radiation. The DESY animation by Science Communication Lab takes you on an interstellar roadtrip to this extraordinary system.
