The athletes whose testosterone is too high BBC Africa
According to the World Athletics rules published in 2018, female athletes with differences of sexual development (DSD) cannot run any event between 400m and one mile unless they lower their high testosterone levels, which the athletics global body claims give the runners an unfair advantage. Namibian athletes Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi are the most recent athletes to be unable to compete in the Olympics due to their testosterone levels. But it s not the first time female African athletes have been barred from competing due to their anatomy, and Caster Semenya is one of the high profile athletes battling the sport s governing bodies. BBC Sport Africa spoke with Kenyas Margaret Wambui and Ugandas Annet Negesa, who ve had their own struggles due to the rules for athletes with DSD. Subscribe: Website: Facebook: Twitter:
