Handbuilt Japanese style Spring, Tire Hybrid Power Hammer

His name is FIONN MacCUMHAILL or Finn McCool in English. Named after one of the greatest of the ancient Irish heroes. I spent all summer building him. You can see the ground shake when he really gets going:) This takes the place of three apprentices pounding away with 16lb sledge hammers. The shape of the hammer head is the same so it does not significantly change the method or result of the work. Most, if not all, swordsmiths in Japan now use something similar. The forge is ready for a test firing as well
