The director and operator of the film was Yevgeny Slavinsky. The script of the film is based on the story of the Italian writer Edmondo de Amicis The Teacher of the Workers. The scene was moved to prerevolutionary Russia. The story has undergone significant alterations. Mayakovsky focused on the contradictions in the character of the hero: the combination of anarchoindividualistic rebellion with a touching selfless love for the teacher. The film was preserved without inscriptions.
