Making Supper in 1820
It is a rainy spring day. Two longtime friends have stopped by for supper including a gentleman whom always bakes meat pies when he is here. His neighbors have also given him a plethora of surplus spring eggs. Today is full of chatter and cooking. The smell of cooked onions and beef is in the air. Recipes: Steak pie: into a pie shell put layers of beef steak chopped fine, butter, onions and flour. Add these layers until you have reached the top of your pie pan. Pour in cyder and cover with another pie crust. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 2 hours. Stuffed eggs: boil eggs then allow to cool. Cut your eggs into halves and scoop out the yolks. Mash these yolks with salt and pepper. You may also add cream and mustard. Return the yolk mixture into the hollowed out egg white halves and serve cold. Check the house out on Facebook.
