Agnelli September 26, 2017 Live recording Saitō Umeo, sound engineer A coproduction between the Italian Cultural Institute and GoetheInstitut Tokyo Massimiliano Viel is an Italian composer, pianist, sound designer and musicologist. Born in Milan, he has studied with Azio Corghi, Brian Ferneyhough, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Tristan Murail, and he has collaborated with composers such as Fausto Romitelli, Peter Eötvos and Karlheinz Stockhausen. With the latter, he recorded three records. He composed more than 50 works for acoustic and electronic instruments, solos, chamber ensembles and large orchestra, as well as installations and performances for theatre, visual arts and dance. He teaches at the Conservatory G. Verdi in Milan and he has published several essays and books in the fields of musical theory and sound studies.
