Indian Dance Group MAYURI Ranjha There is a state in India called Punjab. Some centuries ago a love story happened there, and the people of India are still singing songs about it. A girl named Heer and a lad named Ranjha fell in love with each other. But they belonged to feuding families and the lovers were not destined to be together. Dancing among her friends Heer sings: The whole world is on the one bank, and Ranjha is on the other. A river of fire lies in between, and I have drowned the boat of my heart there.
