An often underrated survival tool is the woven basket. This primitive and simple product of bushcraft is so important and useful yet often overlooked in survival discussions. A basket enables a person to easily collect and transport food and materials thus saving valuable time and energy. In this area I have found a tree with flexible branches similar to willow that are ideal for weaving baskets. These baskets are ideal for gathering and storing food for future use.
