Japanese Acid Folk, Blues, Jazz Beyond Inspired by Perfect Days
This episode is inspired by the new Wim Wenders film; Perfect Days. It is a celebration of the joys of music and the minutiae of Japanese culture. The protagonist Hirayama (played by Koji Yakusho, winner of the Best Actor award at Cannes 2023) is a contemplative middleaged man who lives a life of modesty and serenity, spending his days balancing his job as a caretaker of Tokyos public toilets with his passion for music, literature and photography. In collaboration with Zag s favourite streaming service, MUBI, he picked some Japanese acid folk, blues, rock, and jazz records and created his imaginary version of the soundtrack Perfect Days is streaming exclusively on MUBI in the UK, Ireland, Turkey, India, and Latin America.
