Listen, Save Johann Pachelbel was one of the most influential and successful composers of the middle baroque era in Germany, and a close friend of the Bach family. Principally an organist, he also wrote vocal and chamber music, including the wellknown Canon in D. The original score for this music is lostthe earliest known manuscript copy dates from around 1840but the work remained obscure before enjoying a sudden popular revival in the 1970s. Instrumental adaptations of Pachelbels Canon in D abound, and there have been several vocal and choral arrangements recorded as well.
