It includes performances by numerous popular rock and roll and R B musicians from the United States and England. The concert was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964. Free tickets were distributed to local high school students. The acronym was used inconsistently in the show s publicity to mean both Teenage Awards Music International and Teen Age Music International. Jan and Dean were an American rock duo consisting of William Jan Berry (April 3, 1941 March 26, 2004) and Dean Ormsby Torrence (born March 10, 1940). In the early 1960s, they were pioneers of the California Sound and vocal surf music styles popularized by the Beach Boys.
