Focke Wulf Fw 190 Radial Engine Power for the Luftwaffe
The FockeWulf Fw 190 Würger is a German singleseat, singleengine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II by the german Luftwaffe. The twinrow BMW 801 radial engine that powered most operational versions enabled the Fw 190 to lift larger loads than the Bf 109, allowing its use as a day fighter, fighterbomber, groundattack aircraft. This Version at Military Aviation Museum VA Beach is unusual in that it is fitted with a fourbladed propeller and hub (rather than the original threeblade propeller), and has a modified cowling to fit a more modern Tupelov Tu2 engine.
