The nerve to be anesthetized is the buccal nerve. The area to be anesthetized is the soft tissue and periosteum of the mandibular molar teeth. The landmarks are the mandibular molars and the mucobuccal fold. The syringe position is parallel with occlusal plane on the side of the injection but buccal to the teeth. Penetrate the mucous membrane at the injection site, distal and buccal to the last molar. There is gentle osseous contact with the depth of insertion 14 mm.
