Driving Through a SANDSTORM in Owens Valley California
Our team, Tim Tracey, are forced to drive through a sandstorm on Highway 190 in Owens Valley, (Olancha) California just miles from the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountains which can be seen in the distance with the cloud bank covering the ridgeline. Our two investigators were headed towards Death Valley National Park for a night of skywatching, but they needed a place to temporarily seek shelter away from the major sandstorm. The sands come from the Owens Lakebed and small sand dunes in the Owens Valley. The sand caused permanent damage to the GoPro camera casing rendering it unusable. The sand caused permanent damage to the exterior paint, grill, headlights, and windshield on the vehicle. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH THESE CONDITIONS AS IT WILL CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.
