Moving house: 139 year old building moved six blocks in San Francisco
A 139yearold San Francisco house has a brandnew address six blocks away, thanks to an extensive team of engineers and construction workers. The mint green Victorian house was loaded onto a flatbed truck and moved from its lot on Franklin Street to its new home, several streets away on Fulton Street, yesterday morning. Spectators turned out to cheer and take pictures as the 465sqm house began its journey to its new location. At several points, construction workers were needed to cut back branches so the house could pass down some of the city s treelined streets The house, which needs massive repairs, sat on a prime lot, so valuable its owner sold the property to a developer who plans to build condos on the site, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The cost of moving the sixbedroom house was roughly 330k, according to local media reports.
