Texturing Tutorial in Mari and Substance For VFX Production by Zak Boxall
Gumroad I created this tutorial as a way to help people who are wanting to learn a little more about how we approach texturing to industry standards. Matching real life photo reference is something that I always recommend have at the start of a showreel when people ask me. I took photos of this actual space capsule from the London Science Museum and I document every step in order to accurately recreate the real life thing. My name is Zak Boxall and I m a texture and Look Development Artist in the Visual Effects industry. Ill be showing you the steps I took to recreate this space capsule 11 based on photographic reference. Well dip into Mari, Substance Painter, Designer and Photoshop. But the goal here is to understand each step and not just follow along, well go through the whys and hows, so by the end of this series, youll be able to apply these theories to your own models. Its also worth noting, we wont be using any third party plugins at any point.
