Iran invites neighbors to discuss Afghanistan; leaves the US out
Iran is hosting the socalled Neighbors of Afghanistan Summit with high ranking officials from nearby countries, including Russia and China. The Iranian government, previously had strained relations with the Taliban, but now Iran is calling for unified measures by Afghanistans neighbors in how to deal with the looming humanitarian crisis and the apparent return to power by the Taliban. Foreign ministers from China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia and Iran are taking matters into their own hands after the botched US withdrawal.
