Fabric Story (1957)
London. Panning shot of a white curtain with blue ellipsoid spots. Piece of the same fabric moves across the curtain until girl s face appears. The girl is wearing high collar housecoat made of same fabric as the curtain. While she was turning to the camera, collar moved across the curtain. The girl opens her housecoat to show her nightgown made of fabric with reverse design. Colours are reversed and the spots are smaller. C, U shot of the same fabric. Fabric starts moving to reveal that it belongs to a dress. C, U shot of the face of a model. Terrible makeup makes the poor girl look plastic and scary. Camera slowly tilts down to show the dress. The idea is multipurpose use of fabric. Same fabric can be used to make clothes, curtains or as furnishing fabric. M, S of the two girls wearing dresses made of the same stripy material. The only difference is that stripes on one dress are vertical and on another horizontal. Several C, U shots of the dresses. M, S of the two girls
