Dirty Old Town The Four Fathers
The latest video the eighth in total from our only amplified gig of 2020 (because of Covid) is Dirty Old Town, which we re releasing for St. Patrick s Day. The song was written by the English folk singer Ewan MacColl in 1949, about Salford (where our lead singer Andy Worthington was born), but is bestknown these days for the version by the Pogues that was featured on their 1985 album Rum, Sodomy and the After a short break, were back to releasing a video a week from the gig, to try to keep our music alive when were unable to make any studio recordings, or to play any gigs. The gig was on October 31, 2020, and took place at Matchstick Piehouse, a community theatre and performance space in Deptford, just days before the UK plunged back into lockdown.
