Millions of Filipinos swarmed a historic statue of Jesus Christ as it was pulled through Manila on Tuesday in one of the worlds biggest displays of religious devotion. The Philippine capital was awash with Catholic devotees as the socalled Black Nazarene statue was paraded through thick crowds in the first ceremony of its kind to take place since the coronavirus pandemic. The 400yearold icon, a wooden depiction of Jesus holding a heavy cross, is said to have miraculous healing powers many believe that touching it or attaching ropes to the float can bring good fortune or heal incurable conditions.
