Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge Inauguration Luxembourg (1966)
On 24 October 1966, Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and his wife, Grand Duchess JoséphineCharlotte, inaugurated the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge. This monument was built in honor of the French Statesman Robert Schuman, one of the tireless contributors to the European idea. The Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge connects the Avenue Kirchberg, Boulevard RobertSchuman, and Limpertsberg. It allows National 51 and the Luxembourg tramway to cross the Alzette Valley. Therefore, it is the main road that links the city center, the VilleHaute, to Kirchberg, the district of the European institutions. R. Schuman was from Lorraine and trained as a lawyer. He contributed to the negotiations of the Treaties of Paris and Rome. He created the European Coal and Steel Community, the European Economic Community, and the European Atomic Energy Community.
