Police hose down egg throwing farmers outside EU parliament in Brussels
Over a thousand tractors descended on Brussels as farmers from across Europe headed to the Belgian capital to protest the blocs environmental regulations and net zero ambitions. Farmers threw eggs and stones at the EU Parliament as EU leaders held a summit. Riot police used fire hoses and tear gas to hold protestors behind barriers that had been erected outside the parliament building. Farmers are pressing leaders to do more to help farmers with taxes, rising costs and cheap imports. They say they are not being paid enough, are choked by taxes and green rules and face unfair competition from abroad.
