Cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) assumes guardianship of Lou Ann Stevens (Ann Gilles) when she s paralyzed in a secret attack by her father s partner, Martin (Lon Chaney that left her father dead. As Martin searches for a gold mine under the Stevens ranch, Gene struggles to raise money for Lou Ann s surgery by working for a covered wagon coffee company and performing along the trail. Also trying to solve Stevens murder, Gene runs into trouble with his boss s daughter, Helen (Lois Wilde).
