c. 1914 Tommy s joy day payday at Camp of Queen Victoria s rifles. Location of events unknown. M, S officers sitting at table in front of tent counting out coins for soldiers salaries. Various shots as the soldiers walk up and salute before collecting their pay. They salute again and walk off. L, S large group of soldiers gathered around as some of them toss one soldier into the air on a blanket. He gets down and walks towards the camera smiling. Pan across others laughing, back to the soldier smoothing his hair and laughing too. M, S as they toss another solider up in the blanket, a boy of about 14 walks up to watch. M, S shirtless man sat in doorway of tent, he could be getting an injection in his arm but it looks more like he is having a tattoo done, others queue up behind him and lean over to have a look. Camera pans along informal line of soldiers standing in front of tents, they laugh and joke. Some men do a jig whilst others have a mock fight etc. Modified WPA record. FILM
