Black pastor arrested while watering neighbor s plants
A black pastor in Alabama is suing the authorities after he was arrested while watering his neighbors garden. Pastor Michael Jennings was caring for neighbor Roy Milams garden while he and his wife were away, when police approached him and demanded he identify himself. When Jennings refused, the officers handcuffed him. The incident was reportedly prompted by an anonymous call from someone who had spotted Jennings on private property, seemingly unaware he lived across the street. Jennings was then arrested for obstructing governmental operations, but the charges were later dropped when the anonymous caller phoned back and admitted their mistake. Jennings now plans to file a suit for unlawful arrest, telling the NYT, Im not antipolice, we need our police. We just need good police.
