On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: Seiko Prospex Baby Alpinist SPB159; 38mm, 200m WR, AR Sapphire

On this episode we take an in depth look at another outstanding and highly anticipated 2020 release from the brand Seiko. This new SPB159 (SBDC119) compass bezelless model actually returns to the more basic format of the original Seiko Laurel Alpinist of the late 50 s Seiko Champion Alpinist of the early 60 s. While in no way a reissue, this new Alpinist actually blends design elements from Seiko s more recent mainstream Alpinist offerings and packages them in a modest 38mm case with design cues that scream retro, vintage aesthetic, while still absolutely being ultimately capable of walkingthewalk retaining their 20 ATM water resistance staple. So much so, that I couldn t resist paring this gradated tropicallike dial with an Uncle Seiko Topicstyle rubber strap.
