One of the most beautiful villages in situated about 35 km to the northwest of Montpellier this Provençal village is part of the Grand Site de France des Gorges de l Hérault, it enters the classification of the association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. In 804, the Count of Toulouse and Duke of Aquitaine Saint Guillaume (Guilhèm in langue d oc) founded an abbey in a place in the Valley of the Hérault then away from any human presence, a desert, the valley of Gellone. The abbey was called Gellone Abbey, or, after his death in 812, William s Abbey, and became the Abbey of SaintGuilhem after his canonization in 1066.
