Elio Guarisco The Art of Translating Dzogchen
Invited by the late Kalu Rinpoche, Elio spent almost 20 years in India working on the vast Encyclopedia of IndoTibetan Knowledge known as Sheja Kunkhyab (Shes bya kun khyab, Treasury of Knowledge), composed by Jamgon Kongtrul the Great. Elio has been a student of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche since 1986. He is a founding member of the International Shang Shung Institute for Tibetan Studies, for which he is one of the principal translators on the Kater translation project. Fluent in both modern spoken and Classical Tibetan, Elio is one of the foremost translators in the field. He has acted for many years as translator for a number of eminent Tibetan masters, including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
