Roxanne is a hit song by the rock band The Police. Written by Sting, the song was released in 1978 as a single and on their album Outlandos d Amour. It was written from the pointofview of a man who falls in love with a prostitute. On rerelease in 1979, the song peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2008, Roxanne was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone ranked it, 388 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
