Armed Robbery Suspect Shoots at Police During High Speed Chase in Oklahoma
During a highspeed chase in Oklahoma, an armed robbery suspect shot at police in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol received notice to keep an eye out for armed robbery suspect 32yearold Charles Carswell. Troopers spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull Carswell over. However, Carswell refused to stop and proceeded to lead troopers on a highspeed chase. During the chase, Troopers tried to perform multiple tactical vehicle interventions maneuvers on Carswell, while Carswell shot at the pursuing troopers several times. Finally, OHP Trooper Miller performed a successful TVI maneuver, stopping Carswell s vehicle. Upon stopping, Carswell got out of the vehicle with a rifle and began firing at officers. Officers returned fire and struck Carswell, ending the shootout. Carswell succumbed to his injuries.
