At that time, the Tesla Roadster was the only performance electric vehicle currently for sale, with a range of 244 miles and a 0 to 60 time under 4 seconds on electricity alone. But it was an expensive nichemarket vehicle. In 2009 they introduced the Model S luxury sedan in an effort to break into the mainstream market with what would be the first massproduced highwaycapable electric vehicle. This video was shot on location at the event. It s interesting to see how the company, and their cars, have evolved since then and to witness how Tesla has managed to completely change public perception of what electric vehicles can be.
