I built a turret style CO2 laser. Here is a video of it igniting wood from a distance of 10 feet

This is a 40 watt CO2 laser mounted on a television wall mount. The laser can be directed anywhere by moving the wooden grips. Both buttons installed in the grips must be pressed simultaneously in order to operate the device. Its efficient range has not yet been determined, but tests at 16 feet were very successful (the length of the room). I suspect it can reach much further and still cause damage. The laser emits infrared light with huge amplitudes, so 10. 6 μm rated safety goggles are a necessity.
