Beyond being adorable, this Mexican gray wolf pup (named Sonda) born on May 3, 2022, represents the Wolf Conservation Center s active participation in the effort to save his species from of extinction. The WCC, a 501c3 nonprofit organization in South Salem, NY, is one of a network of facilities participating in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan a binational initiative whose primary purpose is to support the reestablishment of Mexican gray wolves in the wild through captive breeding, public education, and research.
