Lighten Our Darkness (1951)
Titles read: Lighten Our Darkness. Young children are seen in a children s playground. Good shots of them on a slide, roundabout, swings etc. A woman in a nurses uniform catches the children at the bottom of the slide. Other nurses are seen in the playground. The narrator speaks of childlike innocence and trust. This is the garden of Sunshine House, Northwood, Middlesex. It is a nursery school for blind children. C, U of a young girl holding a rabbit in her arms and rubbing her face against it. Another girl cuddles a rabbit. Though darkness envelops her, the light of inner faith is there to states the narrator over shots of a blind girl playing with a rabbit. She senses when it has run away then moves towards it. In rest they close their eyes against the daylight they cannot Inside the nurseries the children take a nap on little camp beds. Two partially sighted girls look at books. C, U of one of the girls looking at a book reveals that the book is upside down
