Food poverty: I miss meals so my children can eat BBC Newsnight
Data shared with Newsnight exclusively by the Food Foundation suggests more than a quarter of UK households with children experienced food poverty last month meaning they reduced what they ate, or skipped meals altogether. The charity says as the cost of living bites it has detected an alarming rise in cases. Upon seeing the findings the former Children s Commissioner told us the scale of deprivation is now a national emergency. A government spokesperson says its priority is always to support the most vulnerable and millions of households have been offered help with rising bills.
